HOMEBUILDING PROJECTS

Many of the EAA 414 Chapter members have built, or are building, their own airplanes. We have a wide varierty of homebuilding expirience in the club, such as aluminum or composite frame building, electrical panel design, and many other specialties.

Some of the Chapter's projects that have been completed, or that are under construction, are listed below.

More Info:

"The aircraft was built per plans with the exception of the avionics."

"As well as an MGL suite I designed a set of electronic 'steam gauges' that look just like the analogue devices but at 1/8" thick, are low powered and daylight readable.  I like the look of the traditional gauges and hate the tapes of most EFIS units ... hence the desire to design the hardware and firmware for these devices myself.  I have also designed a controller for the radio that allows me to select frequencies from a menu on a touch screen.  The controller maintains a list of nearest airports so that all I have to do is select the one that I am interested in and then touch the "ATIS", "TWR", "GND" buttons in sequence.  It helps me to keep ahead of the aircraft and reduces workload. When selecting an airfield it will also display the runways and obtain the weather.  All data feeds are open source, so there are no subscription fees."
